On October 16, 2017, the AFSA MAC was proud to provide a side-by-side burn demonstration as part of the 29th Annual Fort Washington Fire Prevention and Safety Expo. The Fort Washington Fire Expo was initially started as a way to educate the public about fire safety and fire prevention, and the Expo has grown into a much anticipated and very successful community event.

Often the best way to drive home a point is visually, AFSA MAC decided a side-by-side burn would be an effective way to demonstrate just how important fire sprinklers are at saving lives and the Fire Expo was the best venue for getting the message out.

Watch the video below to see Chief Fire Marshal John Waters of Upper Merion Township, PA show us in real time how quickly a fire can spread in a residential property and the effectiveness of a fire sprinkler system.

Meaghen Wills, chairwoman of the AFSA Mid-Atlantic Chapter was thrilled with the turnout of the event, “Hundreds of local residents attended and left with a better understanding of the importance of fire sprinklers in their daily lives. It was quite a success!”

We’d like to thank all the organizations who made the event possible, including: North Montco Technical Career Center, Ferguson Fire & Fabrication, Viking, Johnson Controls, General Air Products, the Township of Upper Dublin, and the Fort Washington Fire Department. We’re grateful for your participation!
